'People celebrate Mohanlal the actor but not the person; my father apologised to Lal sir on sets of Hridayapoorvam, this is what Lal sir told him then'

The Mohanlal–Sreenivasan duo remains one of the most iconic and beloved partnerships in Malayalam cinema. The two have starred together in numerous classic hits that continue to entertain audiences even today. However, fans of this celebrated pair were left disappointed when Sreenivasan released Padmashree Dr. Saroj Kumar, a film seen as mocking Mohanlal’s honorary Lieutenant Colonel title. His subsequent remarks about the actor also upset many of Mohanlal’s admirers.

Now, Sreenivasan’s son Dhyan Sreenivasan has revealed that his father recently apologised to Mohanlal for those remarks.

Speaking at a public event, Dhyan said, “People celebrate Mohanlal the actor, but not Mohanlal the person. He has so many good qualities that we can all learn from. We can never be actors like Mohanlal, but if we try, we can become good human beings like him. That’s what I’ve realised.”

“My father had criticised Mohanlal during one of his interviews, and I responded in another interview, countering it. Recently, after Lal sir received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, he attended the state government’s felicitation ceremony. I remembered thinking that we have praised him as high as the sky and also put him down to the ground, but he has never once responded to any of it. He takes everything lightly and turns negativity into positivity,” he said.

“On the set of Hridayapoorvam, my father met Lal sir after many years. He told him, ‘Please forgive me if my words ever hurt you.’ Lal sir just smiled and said, ‘Let it go.’ That kind of heart is something only Mohanlal has,” Dhyan added.
