THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Doctors will be striking demanding security for employees in government hospitals. Doctors will begin a non-cooperation strike from November 1 under the leadership of the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA).

The organisation's state president Dr PK Sunil and general secretary Dr Jobin G Joseph announced that the doctors will refrain from other duties except patient care. The strike is in the backdrop of the incident in which a doctor was hacked at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital.

"The long-standing demand to declare hospitals as high-security zones has not materialised. Many of the important decisions taken at the high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister following the tragic murder of Dr. Vandana Das have still not been implemented," the office bearers said.
