KOCHI: The Union Ministry of Heavy Industries approved setting up electric vehicle charging stations across the country for Rs 2,000 crore. The amount will be distributed among the states upon request. A subsidy of up to 100 per cent will be provided. The order was issued on September 25.

The Additional Chief Secretary has recommended Anert as the nodal agency for implementation in Kerala, but KSEB is also in the fray. Anert plans to set up 3,600 charging machines for Rs 300 crore. 2,000 machines for two-wheelers, 1,300 machines of 50-150 kW for cars, and 300 machines of 240-500 kW for buses and trucks.

Category B: 80 per cent infrastructure subsidy for installation at railway stations, metro stations, KSRTC bus stands and airports and 70 per cent subsidy for the machine.
