Man elopes with lover with gold and cash days before daughter's wedding

KOCHI: A man eloped with his lover taking all the gold and cash kept for his own daughter’s wedding. The incident happened at Thandekkad within the Vengola Panchayat in Ernakulam. Following a complaint filed by his daughter, an investigation was conducted and he was found along with his lover, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram. It is believed that this woman has a job in Canada.

Although the police advised him to return home, he said that he could not leave her. However, when the police asked him to agree his daughter’s request to attend her wedding and give her hand, he agreed to it. He took the gold and nearly Rs 5 lakh kept for her wedding. The wedding is only a month away.

However, the groom said that he is ready to marry her as fixed. It is learnt that the man’s lover working in Canada has a husband there. Police said the two got married at a temple in Tamil Nadu.
