KOZHIKODE: Rambeesa, mother of nine-year-old Anaya, who died in Thamarassery, alleged that she died due to medical negligence. She told the media that the doctor did not pay due attention to the child and that the postmortem report proved what she had said earlier. Anaya's family has filed a complaint with the DySP demanding a further investigation into the incident. Rambeesa said that they will soon file a complaint with Health Minister Veena George demanding action against the doctors who treated the child.
However, Dr Gopalakrishnan, superintendent of Thamarassery Taluk Hospital said that there was no lapse from their side. The microbiology report received from the medical college states that the child did not have symptoms of pneumonia and that it was amoebic encephalitis. There is a difference between the forensic report and the microbiology reports. The superintendent said the medical college and the medical board should resolve the uncertainty in this report.
The postmortem report saying that Anaya did not die of amoebic encephalitis came the other day. The report said the cause of death was viral pneumonia following influenza A infection. Her father, Sanoop, had attacked the doctor at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital, alleging that the child was not given adequate treatment. The postmortem report emerged while Sanoop is in jail in this case.
Anaya died on August 14. She was first admitted at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital. She died shortly before being taken to the medical college. Anaya's father, Sanoop, had earlier revealed that some doctors of the medical college had told him that his daughter died due to fever. He had said that if the doctors of Thamarassery Hospital had referred her to the medical college in time, her daughter would not have died.
