CHENNAI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has announced that it has handed over the financial assistance announced for the Karur accident. Rs 20 lakh has been transferred to the accounts of the families of the deceased. TVK announced that it has given money to the families of 39 people. It is reported that Vijay has instructed his supporters that this Diwali celebration should not be celebrated in the name of TVK in memory of those who died in the stampede in Karur and that memorial programs will be enough.

The money was handed over after the DMK criticised Vijay for not reaching Karur. The DMK faction had come forward by sharing a caricature of Vijay in the guise of an RSS member. The DMK criticised that Vijay is insulting the Karur victims. It was announced that Vijay would reach Karur on the 17th, but he did not arrive. The tragedy that claimed 41 lives was on September 27.

Meanwhile, TVK spokesperson Loyola Mani said that it is the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's government that is obstructing Vijay's visit to Karur. "It is the government that is preventing Vijay from meeting the victims. He will definitely meet the people of Karur. He has not been given permission yet. Is it appropriate for you, who follow an anti-democratic approach, to speak?"

"The DMK government is operating on a model of empty propaganda. It is painful to see someone rule without accountability and by deceiving the people. The government is incapable of providing proper security for public events. The government is responsible for the tragedy in Karur. Isn't it shameful to put all the blame on TVK without the courage to respond? People have not believed the allegations made against us yet. Vijay had spoken to the families of those who died in Karur on a video call. He had promised to visit them soon,” Loyola Mani responded.
