NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his Diwali greetings to the people of India, wishing that the festival of lights brings unity, happiness, and prosperity into everyone’s lives. In a message shared on X, Modi said that the spirit of positivity should prevail around us.
'Greetings on the occasion of Diwali. May this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. May the spirit of positivity prevail all around us,' Modi wrote.
He also urged citizens to buy Indian-made products and support local artisans during the festive season.
'Let us celebrate this festive season by recognizing the hard work, creativity, and innovation of 140 crore Indians. Let us buy Indian products and share pictures of them on social media to inspire others to do the same,' the Prime Minister said.
President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her Diwali wishes, greeting all Indians across the world. She said that Diwali symbolises the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. The President wished everyone happiness, peace, and prosperity, and urged everyone to celebrate the festival safely, responsibly, and in an environmentally friendly manner.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his Diwali greetings, saying that he prayed to Lord Ram for the health and prosperity of all. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also conveyed their wishes on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Ayodhya entered the Guinness World Records by lighting over 26 lakh oil lamps and organising the Saryu Aarti as part of the Diwali celebrations. The event was jointly organised by the Ayodhya district administration and the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department.
