THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Benjamin, the accused in the Kazhakkoottam molestation case, made shocking confessions to the police. The accused, Benjamin, barged into the hostel and assaulted a young IT professional who was sleeping. Benjamin came to the area with the intention of stealing, but decided to enter the hostel room as he found the door unlocked.

The accused, a native of Madurai, delivers goods in Kerala in his own lorry. His method is to commit thefts wherever he can find a place to park the lorry. He similarly arrived at the hostel last Friday morning. Benjamin also takes pleasure in harassing and molesting women who sleep on the streets.

Police say that he has multiple girlfriends in his hometown.

It is reported that Benjamin went straight to one of his girlfriend’s homes after committing the crime in Thiruvananthapuram. Benjamin, a native of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, was captured by the Kerala Police without even seeking the help of the local police. The team, which arrived in Madurai in the early hours of the morning, made all moves discreetly.

Several CCTV cameras were checked as part of the search for the accused. The key to the case was the discovery of a lorry with a Tamil Nadu registration. The lorry's number was found, and within hours, his address and phone number were organised. Since the lorry belonged to Benjamin, all the information about the accused was obtained. The DANSAF team, which returned to Madurai with the help of the cyber team, took the accused into custody.

The police team reached Nagamalai Pudhukottai at around 4 am. During the inspection, they found a lorry parked in an isolated place. However, Benjamin was not in the lorry but was sitting inside a nearby house. He ran to escape after seeing unknown people coming to the spot. However, the Kerala police caught him after chasing him for about a kilometre. The team included SIs Vinod, Mithun, Arun, Vineeth, and Vinod. Benjamin, who is on remand, will be taken into custody the next day, and evidence will be collected.
