President Droupadi Murmu described Sree Narayana Guru as a spiritual teacher who led humanity from the darkness of social apathy and extreme inferiority to the light of equality. The President was inaugurating the Mahaparinirvana Centenary of Sree Narayana Guru at Sivagiri.

“His broad vision of equality, unity and love for humanity has deeply influenced generations. Guru's words are the solution to the conflicts facing humanity. The liberation of humanity is through wisdom and compassion. Guru gave importance to self-purification, simplicity and love for the world. Guru's words and deeds are gaining relevance with the passage of time.” Said the Indian President.

The President’s visit to Kerala was historic with a certain uniqueness. Sabarimala and Sivagiri are sacred abodes. Sabarimala proclaims the way of life through the quote ‘Tat Tvam Asi’, a Sanskrit phrase meaning "That thou art" or "You are that". Similarly, Sivagiri is a beacon of the noble universal vision of 'One caste, one religion, one God for man'. Sree Narayana Guru, the foremost renaissance leader, accomplished social transformations in one lifetime that would not have happened even in a millennium. He used knowledge as a divine weapon to fight the battle.

The silent and bloodless revolution Guru began in Aruvippuram led to the subsequent successes of Droupadi Murmu, a tribal from Orissa, and K.R. Narayanan, a Malayali born in a Dalit family, obtaining the highest constitutional office in India. Thus, Droupadi Murmu's inauguration of the Mahaparinirvana Centenary Conference of Sree Narayana Guru adds to the curiosity of the event. Murmu also became the first woman president to climb the holy 18 steps of the Sabarimala temple and pay obeisance to the lord in the sanctum sanctorum.

As part of the centenary celebrations, the Sivagiri Mutt has come up with various projects over the next three years until 2028. Many of these projects emphasise modern science and technology and the one-world theory envisioned by the Guru. 100 Sree Narayana philosophical conferences are being organised inside and outside India. Guru's works will be translated into Indian and foreign languages and disseminated, and shelters for the elderly will be established in Sivagiri and its branch institutions. The President, who attained the virtue of visiting Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala, also witnessed the depth of the greatness of the Guru in Sivagiri. The President's visit will certainly help in spreading the fame of Sabarimala and Sivagiri further throughout the world.
