A world without artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer possible. AI systems will play a huge role in controlling and guiding human life in the future. Every machine has its potential and benefits, as well as its drawbacks. The same applies to AI. Modern countries are already using artificial intelligence to control even their war machines. The greatest advantage of AI is its precision and accuracy. An AI system was recently introduced to control the crowd at the Tirupati temple. The AI Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) was set up to control the crowd following the stampede at the temple ten months ago, which left six people dead. This is the first AI system in the country to control crowds in temples.

This AI centre facilitates crowd management using advanced video analytics and facial recognition and provides real-time monitoring. This system can count the number of people in the queue, track the movement of the crowd, and tell devotees how long they have to wait for darshan. AI is also rapidly entering some strategic fields like traffic control, ensuring national security, and performing expert surgeries. However, it must be said that the entry of AI into social media is doing more harm than good. AI systems can present even a convincing audio and video of our Prime Minister or other public figure saying and doing things they never did.

The AI system can present scenes depicting the manners and demeanours of cats, lions, and monkeys in a way that surpasses the original, making one stare at their screens for hours. This will create a situation where one can't even believe what they see. Therefore, some restrictions are needed for such content. The central government has proposed some changes to the IT laws with this in mind. One of the main requirements is that the content created by artificial intelligence should clearly mention that it is AI-generated. When that happens, no one will have to watch anything believing that they are seeing the truth. Large platforms such as Facebook and YouTube will be instructed to mark "AI-generated content".

Those in the sector can submit suggestions on the draft law until November 6. Those with 5 million or more subscribers will have to comply with stricter standards regarding AI content. Such control is necessary in the context of the recent social media virality of realistically created deepfake audios and videos. Such deepfake videos have the power to divide people, influence voters and even cause riots. It can be used for both personal attacks and even scams. Therefore, the suggestion that AI-generated content has to be labelled can help avoid many accidents in the future. No one would attempt to commit fraud by warning in writing, "This is a scam." There should be clarity about such matters in the law.
