Adimali landslide: National Highway construction to be halted; order to conduct inspection and submit report

IDUKKI: District Collector Dinesan Cheruvat has ordered the suspension of national highway construction in the wake of the landslide in Adimali. A special team has been formed to visit and inspect the landslide-prone NH 85 and other areas of the district and submit a report.

The District Collector has directed the District Geologist, Hazard Analyst, Soil Conservation Officer, Ground Water Department District Officer, Public Works National Highways Division Executive Engineer, National Highways Authority Executive Engineer, and Devikulam Tehsildar to submit a preliminary report within two days and a detailed report within four days.

The National Highways Authority Project Director has been instructed to suspend all construction activities on NH 85 and other areas of the district that are prone to landslides until the study report is available. Permission has been given to remove soil that has fallen on the road and houses.
