Six-month old baby found dead with throat slit in Angamaly, grandma suspected

KOCHI: A six-month-old baby was found dead with her throat slit at Karukutty in Angamaly. The victim identified as Delna Maria Sara is daughter of Antony and Ruth. The baby’s grandma has been admitted in the hospital in a serious condition. The Angamaly police reached the spot and are recording the statement of the inmates.

The baby’s parents and grandma Rosy are in the house. The incident happened Wednesday morning at 9 am. Initial reports said the baby was left near her grandmother as her mother was busy in the kitchen. The baby was found lying in blood after some time and was soon taken to a private hospital in Angamaly. However, the baby could not be saved. The body of the baby is kept in the Appollo Hospital in Angamaly.

The police are investigating the incident. They suspect the hands of the grandma behind the act. She is taking medicines for depression. A panchayat member said that she consumed overdose of medicines.
