THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The condition of Sreekutty, who was pushed out of a train by an assailant, remains unchanged, according to officials at the Medical College Hospital. However, doctors said they are hopeful since her condition has not worsened. If her current state continues for the next two days, gradual improvement can be expected, they added. Sreekutty is currently on a ventilator in the Critical Care ICU of the Medical College Hospital.

Though still unconscious, she occasionally tries to move her hands and legs. This morning, a team of doctors from the surgery, neuro medicine, neuro surgery, critical care, ENT, and orthopaedics departments, led by Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kiran, assessed her condition. Doctors believe she has suffered a diffuse axonal injury caused by the impact of the fall, resulting in the brain shifting inside the skull. They noted that recovery from such an injury will take time.
