PATNA: Slippers and stones were pelted at Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha's convoy. The attack happened during the first phase of voting for the Bihar assembly elections in his constituency Lakhisarai. A mob blocked his convoy this afternoon, pelted stones and shoes and shouted slogans.
Sinha alleged that RJD goons are behind the attack. The attack happened when he came to visit the polling booths on the polling day. Meanwhile, the police said that it was a protest by the locals. The police also said that the situation is presently under control.
The police also denied the allegation that the RJD threatened BJP's polling agents. Meantime, he said the NDA government will come back to power in Bihar and that they will drive a bulldozer through their chests. Sinha alleged that booths were also seized in some booths. However, Sinha also got angry with the policemen who said that the situation was under control.
The police officer's remarks angered Sinha. The deputy chief minister called the district police chief a coward and incompetent. The deputy chief minister said that the protesters were not allowing him to enter and that it was a shame on the administration itself.
Sinha, a sitting MLA from Lakhisarai, is contesting against Congress' Amaresh Kumar. Jan Suraj Party's Suraj Kumar is also in the fray. Following the incident, the Election Commission said that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands and strict action will be taken against those who create trouble. Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has directed the Bihar Police Chief to take immediate action in the matter.
