NEW DELHI: Three including a doctor arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, had deadly explosive materials in their hands. Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed (35), Mohammaad Suhail (23) and Azad Suleman Sheikh (20) were arrested. Four liters of castor oil was seized from them. It was found that the castor oil was kept for the manufacture of the deadly poison ricin. The ATS also seized two Glock pistols, a Beretta pistol and 30 live cartridges from the doctor.
The ATS said that the doctor is linked to an Afghanistan-based handler named Abu Khadija, who is associated with the Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP). It has been found that the doctor started manufacturing ricin after a long period of experimental observation. The ATS said he had contacts with individuals from Pakistan and studied medicine in China.
The ATS has also found that the trio conducted surveillance on the premises of several religious, social and cultural organizations, including RSS offices in Ahmedabad, Delhi and Lucknow. Ricin poison was also seized from them.
The doctor was manufacturing ricin in large quantities and was waiting for instructions from handlers from Pakistan. He had earlier run a restaurant. The ATS also revealed that the ricin was stored here.
