THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A BJP worker, upset over being denied a seat in the local body elections, committed suicide. Anand K Thampi, a native of Thrikkannapuram in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, died while undergoing treatment today. He committed suicide after writing a note against the RSS and BJP leadership.

Anand had earlier announced that he would contest as an independent candidate.

A WhatsApp message sent by Anand to his friends before he committed suicide has surfaced. In the message, Anand alleges that BJP leaders are behind not making him a candidate. He also alleged RSS and BJP leaders were involved in sand mafia.

"It doesn't matter where my body is buried, but I humbly request that BJP and RSS workers not be allowed to see my mortal remains. I lived as an RSS worker, and I consider this the biggest mistake I made in life. Even now, at the time of my death, I remain an RSS worker. That led me to commit suicide today," from Anand's suicide note.
