Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya quits politics, ‘disowns’ family after RJD’s Bihar election debacle

PATNA: Reports say there has been tension inside the family of RJD founder Lalu Prasad Yadav after the party suffered a major setback in the Bihar Assembly elections. Lalu’s daughter Rohini Acharya posted on X that she is quitting politics. She also hinted that she is cutting ties with her family.

“I am leaving politics and ending my relationship with the family. Sanjay Yadav and Rameez have asked me to do this. I am taking all the blame,” Rohini wrote.

Rohini, who is a doctor, had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Saran constituency in Bihar but lost to the BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy. Earlier, Lalu’s son Tej Pratap Yadav was removed from the party. He then formed a new party called Jan Shakti Janata Dal and contested the elections, but he also failed. Tej Pratap had fielded a candidate against his brother Tejashwi in Raghopur.

There were reports that Rohini was unhappy about Tej Pratap’s removal. This is also believed to be one of the reasons behind her decision. However, party sources say Rohini’s move may be a pressure tactic.
