GANDHINAGAR: A woman was murdered by her fiancé just hours before their wedding. The incident took place at the bride's house in Tekri Chowk in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. A woman named Soni Himmat Rathod was murdered by a 26-year-old man named Sajan Baraya following a verbal argument. The accused reached the woman's house on the morning of the wedding day, and an argument broke out between the two over a saree and money. Sajan, who lost control in anger, hit the woman with an iron pipe. He also smashed her head on the walls. By the time the family woke up to the commotion, the accused had left the place. Although she was taken to the hospital, Soni’s life couldn’t be saved.

After getting information, the police team reached the spot and started a detailed investigation. Police say that the two had been living together for the past one and a half years despite their families objecting to it. Later, after the marriage was fixed with the consent of their families, the woman returned to her own home.

Soni and Sajan have been together for the past one and a half years. However, neither their families were in favour of this. Recently, the family decided to get them married. Some wedding-related ceremonies were held on Friday. The wedding was supposed to take place on Saturday,' said Deputy Superintendent of Police RR Singhar. Soni's body has been sent for a postmortem. He added that a detailed investigation is underway.
