One seriously injured in fireworks accident 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One sustained injury in an explosion when Kathina (a type of firework) exploded in a house. The incident happened at Kattaikonam in Thiruvananthapuram. The injured is Balakrishnan Nair (60) of Kazhakoottam living at Vazhavila in Kattaikonam. He has been admitted to the medical college hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened Sunday morning at 11 am. The fire was caused by a spark that fell while cutting an iron wire with a cutter near the place where fireworks were kept for drying. Hearing the noise, the locals ran and rushed him to the hospital. The police reached the spot and conducted an investigation. Balakrishnan Nair is an employee of the temple.
