Spa employee held for extorting Rs 4 lakh from policeman

KOCHI: A woman employee who had been on the run after allegedly extorting Rs 4 lakh from a policeman at a spa in Ernakulam city has been arrested by the Palarivattom police. The third accused, Ramya (39), a native of Vaikom, was taken into custody. Sub-Inspector K.K. Baiju, who is also accused of taking money from the policeman, is expected to be arrested soon. He had earlier been placed under suspension

Ramya was arrested yesterday around 5 p.m. from a lodge in the Thaikkudam–Chambakkara area. On the evening of the 8th, Ramya and Palarivattom police station Grade SI Baiju allegedly threatened a police constable from the Kochi City AR Camp, who had visited the spa, and extorted money from him. Out of the total amount, Rs 1 lakh was handed over to Shihab from the quotation gang, Rs 2 lakh was taken by Baiju, and Rs 1 lakh by Ramya. Shihab was arrested on Sunday.
