End to exciting roadshow: Kalashakottu for LSG election campaigns, 'silence period' starting tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The open campaigning for the local body elections has ended. Open campaigning in the seven districts where voting is being held in the first phase has concluded. Silent campaigning can be conducted tomorrow. Open campaigning has ended for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam districts. The fronts conducted Kalashakottu with road shows, dance and songs. Minister Ganesh Kumar led the Kalashakottu of Left candidate Poojappuka Radhakrishnan in Thiruvananthapuram Jagathy. The road show was accompanied by many two-wheeler riders.

People from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam will cast their votes on Tuesday. Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm. Kalashakottu of districts from Thrissur to Kasaragod will be held on Tuesday. Voting will be held on the 11th. Counting of votes will be done on the 13th.

Mock polls will be held at polling stations at 6 am on Tuesday. Voting will begin at 7 am. There will be a total of 33,746 polling stations. There will be 28,127 polling stations for village, block and district panchayats, 3,604 for municipalities and 2,015 for corporations. 70,000 police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order. There are videographers and webcasting facilities at the problem-prone booths. Voters can cast three votes at the panchayat level for village, block and district panchayats and one vote in the municipality.
