Counting of votes progressing; LDF wins K C Venugopal’s ward

ALAPPUZHA: The LDF won Congress leader K C Venugopal’s ward. The UDF lost the Kaithavana ward. The votes are being counted in 1666 wards in the district, including district panchayat, block panchayat, panchayat and municipality.

Three fronts had stepped forward claiming the winning the Mavelikkara Municipality administration with a clear majority. In the last election, all three fronts had won nine seats each. The UDF came to power with the support of an independent. This time, the fronts conducted campaign activities aimed at making a clear breakthrough.

The BJP intensified the fight in Mavelikkara by giving the responsibility of the election to Kummanam Rajasekharan and others. The UDF and the LDF conducted a fierce campaign to retain the administration and capture it.
