KOCHI: After retaining power in Palakkad Municipality, NDA added Tripunithura Municipality to their laurels in Kerala. This is the first time BJP is coming to power in Tripunithura Municipality. NDA's victory is by a majority of one seat. This is a municipality where LDF and UDF have been ruling alternately for years.

While NDA won 21 seats, LDF got 20 seats this time. UDF got 16 seats. A close fight ensued between LDF and NDA. Currently, LDF is ruling the municipality. BJP was on a high-octane campaign in Tripunithura after labelling it as an A-class municipality.

BJP also retained power in the Palakkad Municipality. The NDA is leading in Palakkad with 25 seats, the UDF with 18 seats and the LDF with nine seats. The BJP became the single largest party in the Palakkad Municipality with 25 seats.
