Youth killed after scooter explodes during UDF victory celebrations in Kozhikode; one injured

KOZHIKODE: A youth was killed after a scooter exploded during victory celebrations following the local body elections. The deceased has been identified as Sandeep, a native of Vattoli.

The incident took place at Marathumpadi in the Kurumboil–Vayalada area of Balussery. Another person who was injured in the explosion has been admitted to the hospital.

The accident occurred while supporters were celebrating the victory of UDF candidate Devanandan, who won from Ward 2 of Panangad Panchayat.

The body has been kept at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Fire and Rescue Services and Balussery police reached the spot soon after the incident. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the scooter explosion.
