Controversy in actor assault case; Dileep withdraws from programme in Ernakulathappan Temple

KOCHI: Actor Dileep withdrew from a temple programme amidst controversies following the court verdict in the actor assault case. He withdrew from the inauguration of the distribution of festival coupons of the Ernakulam Shiva Temple also known as Ernakulathappan Temple. The reason for his withdrawal is not clear. The function is scheduled to be held tomorrow.

There were protests for inviting him for the function. The office bearers had later informed that the event has been postponed. The coupon distribution of the temple festival starting on January 23 and the release of the notice was scheduled to be held Tuesday evening in the premises of the temple. Dileep was invited to accept the first coupon from the president of the temple advisory panel. Actor Anoop Menon was also invited for the function.

There were some differences of opinion in the panel and in the Cochin Devaswom Board over inviting Dileep. CPM and CPI members expressed displeasure. The function was later postponed to December 17. Many was of the opinion that tantri should accept the coupon and release of the notice. The posts shared by the actress attacked and Manju Warrier on social media the other day had received a lot of public support.
