
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader VV Rajesh has signed the first file after taking charge as the mayor of the capital city. The first BJP mayor in Kerala signed the Vayomitram project. VV Rajesh has allocated Rs 50 lakh as part of the Vayomitram project. The last council had approved the Vayomitram project. Rs 50 lakh was allocated as the first instalment.
V.V. Rajesh was elected as the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram by securing 51 votes in the mayoral election held this morning. The BJP captured the capital city by winning 50 out of the 100 wards in which the election was held. V.V. Rajesh received 51 votes including the support of independent candidate Patur Radhakrishnan, who won from Kannammoola ward. LDF candidate RP Shivaji got 29 votes, while UDF candidate KS Sabarinath got 17 votes. Two votes of the UDF were invalidated.
G.S. Asha Nath is the Deputy Mayor. BJP workers are celebrating their historic victory after the mayoral and deputy mayor elections in the capital. They are organising payasam and sweet distribution at junctions in all the wards of the city. The Mayor responded that the BJP's goal is to comprehensively develop all 101 wards of the capital by including opposition parties in the development work.
