THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former DGP and BJP leader R Sreelekha expressed her dissatisfaction over not being given the mayor's post. It is reported that Sreelekha shared her feelings of humiliation with the leaders. Although the leaders made many attempts to persuade Sreelekha, none of this yielded any results. However, efforts to reach a consensus are continuing.
Sreelekha has not even shared a congratulatory post for the new mayor on social media. Mayor V V Rajesh and Deputy Mayor Asha Nath visited Sreelekha at her home. Rajesh explained that the visit was part of meeting important leaders.
Sreelekha had returned before the mayor's oath-taking ceremony was over yesterday morning. Sreelekha leaving from the council hall was a big discussion. R Sreelekha left without attending Rajesh's oath-taking and the celebrations that were taking place in the hall. She left the hall and quickly called a vehicle.
It is reported that while contesting in Sasthamangalam, some of the state office bearers had offered Sreelekha the post of mayor if comes to power. After getting power, the state leadership had confirmed Sreelekha. The opposition of some leaders in the state leadership to V V Rajesh was another reason for supporting Sreelekha. However, the problem was that Sreelekha was chosen without consulting leaders including former presidents. Leaders including K Surendran called the central leaders and expressed their serious concerns, and later, RSS intervention led to Rajesh getting the post.
