
THRISSUR: Congress has taken disciplinary action against municipal councillor Lali James. Lali James has been suspended from the primary membership of the Congress party. The decision was taken by KPCC president Sunny Joseph. Lali had come out publicly against the district leadership after the Thrissur Corporation did not grant her the mayor's post. Lali James alleged that the mayor's post was sold for money.
The councillor's allegation is against the party leadership in the district. Lali had also levelled allegations against the UDF mayoral candidate in Thrissur. Lali James publicly alleged that the Thrissur Corporation mayoral position was "sold for money" to her party colleague, Dr. Niji Justin, and that she was overlooked because she did not have funds to offer.
Senior councillor Lali James alleged that Niji Justin and her husband went to meet AICC leaders with a moneybox. She had told the media that Niji is a member of the KC Venugopal group and that KC's interference was behind Niji's selection. Lali had also levelled allegations against former opposition leader in the municipality Rajan Pallan. Lali James had told the media that Rajan is a person who only stands for his own interests.
Lali had also threatened to reveal many more transactions if action was taken against her. This is the reason why action has been taken against her.
