Gulf country advises expatriates to be extremely cautious on road

DUBAI: Heavy rains were witnessed in various parts of United Arab Emirates (UAE). Various roads in the country were waterlogged. The National Meteorological Center has issued yellow and amber alerts as heavy rains hit the northeastern emirates. The rains were mainly in Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. Flooding has intensified in low-lying areas.

Transportation came to a standstill in the emirates of Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah as rainwater gushed down from the mountains and flooded the roads. Several vehicles were stuck in waterlogged areas. Heavy rains lashed Al Lisaili area of Dubai. There was heavy rain accompanied by light snowfall on the Khorfakkan Road and the Murbad-Masafi Road.


Authorities had advised motorists to be extremely cautious as there was a possibility of waterlogging on the roads. Authorities had also stated that they should reduce speed while driving and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
