Save Box App fraud case; Jayasurya received payment of Rs one crore, says ED

KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has found that actor Jayasurya received a payment of around Rs one core in the Save Box App Deposit Fraud case. The money came in the accounts of the actor and his wife Saritha. The money came from the companies of Swadiq Rahim, the main accused in the fraud. The actor has stated that this was the payment for the brand ambassador.


The ED is moving to conduct further examinations in connection with the actor’s bank accounts. The actor will be questioned again and was directed to appear again on January 7. The ED has also found that there are more film personalities acquainted by Swadiq Rahim. The ED will also investigate Swadiq’s film connections.


Swadiq of Thrissur started the app called Save Box in 2019. This is an online auction app that has been described as the first of its kind in India. Swadiq who has close links with film stars, invited Jayasurya as the app's brand ambassador. He was promised a payment of Rs 2 crore. Many other film stars had also worked to promote the app. The frauds related to the app came to light in 2023.


Jayasurya was questioned twice in the case. The statement of his wife Saritha was also recorded.
