KOCHI: It is estimated that there will be a tough fight in the Tripunithura assembly constituency this time. Congress is considering contesting actor Ramesh Pisharody if sitting MLA and former minister K Babu decides not to contest again. Former mayor M Anil Kumar is likely to be the LDF candidate. However, it was the BJP that captured the municipal administration in Tripunithura.

K Babu won the constituency from former Tripunithura MLA M Swaraj by a majority of 992 votes. Babu is reportedly considering whether to contest again due to health issues. Opposition leader VD Satheesan had requested that Babu contest again.

Ramesh Pisharody's name had also surfaced in 2021. Pisharody has personal ties with Congress leaders. However, the actor has not agreed yet. The names of Raju P Nair and M Liju are also being considered.

It is reported that M Swaraj may not be the LDF candidate again. M Anil Kumar's name is being heard. The BJP, confident of winning the municipal administration, is preparing for a strong fight in the constituency. The names of KVS Haridas and PR Sivasankaran are being heard in the BJP camp.
