THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A clash broke out between police and BJP workers at Malamukal in Nettayam, Vattiyoorkavu. The situation escalated following an earlier confrontation between BJP and CPM workers. The dispute reportedly began after a BJP worker filed a complaint alleging that a person had behaved indecently in public. A woman had also lodged a complaint at the Vattiyoorkavu police station late at night in connection with the incident.

Following the complaint, the BJP alleged that the woman’s husband, who is a BJP worker, was stopped by locals and CPM workers, and even his vehicle was blocked.

Although the Vattiyoorkavu police reached the spot, tensions continued to rise. BJP workers accused the police of supporting CPM workers. As the situation worsened, stone pelting broke out. A police officer was injured in the head during the incident. More police personnel arrived at the scene, and a lathi charge was carried out to control the crowd. The workers then dispersed, bringing the situation under control.
