Merryland studio scion S Chandran passes away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: S Chandran (90), director of Thiruvananthapuram City Theatres and proprietor of Imperial Trading Company, passed away on Tuesday. He was the son of P. Subramaniam, founder of the iconic Merryland Studio. After Merryland Subramaniam, S Chandran's meticulous management resulted in the establishment of city theatres, including Sreekumar, Sree Visakh, New Theatre and Sree Padmanabha, becoming an indisputable part of the film tradition in the capital city.

Family:

Wife: S. Shantha, children: Geetha Sunu, Shiva Raja, Minnu Palani, Mahesh Subramaniam, Girish Chandran. In-laws: Sanjeev Sunu, P. Palani, Baby Rani, Renu Girish.

Funeral on Wednesday at 3 pm in the house premises.
