THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM sympathiser and party spokesperson Reji Lukose switched alliance and joined BJP in a surprising move on Thursday. Known for his vociferous approach in defending CPM during channel debates, many eyebrows were raised when news appeared about Reji joining BJP.
In his first response after taking membership from BJP state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Reji said his decision comes after realization that the ideologies he believed have gone redundant in today’s age.
Reji Lukose:
“The youngsters today are leaving the state en masse. There is no point in sticking to redundant ideas again. The state will soon become an old-age home if the practice continues. For some time, I have been impressed with the development works carried out by BJP.
The big realisation happened when I travelled to the north-ruled BJP states, and contrary to my belief, there was massive development. I was surprised and instantly impressed. It is alleged that BJP is a party of religious bigots. However, what disappointed me was the tactics employed by my former party to create a religious wedge in Kerala.
The work carried out by BJP has impressed me a lot. Judging by the current political trend, I am sure BJP will come to power in Kerala soon.”
