KASARAGOD: A student created panic after he climbed onto the top of a building at Kuniya Arts and Science College, threatening to commit suicide. The student, Ahmed Shamshad, a third-year BA Arabic student, threatened to commit suicide following his suspension from college. It took some effort from the police, though it yielded results as the officials were able to pacify Shamshad and bring him down.

Shamshad was suspended this morning after he protested against some actions in the college. Shamshad responded that many students, including himself, are being harassed in the college. The student then went on to raise serious allegations against the college.

“If a boy and a girl are sitting together, the principal comes and separates them. If students gather together, some people, paid by the management, come to take a video of it," echoed the students. The police cleared the tension and assured that they would provide an opportunity for student representatives and the management to discuss a settlement. Currently, the college is closed indefinitely.
