ABU DHABI: The big ticket in Abu Dhabi has a history of changing the lives of ordinary people. Over the years, the big ticket has changed the fortunes of many expatriates who were struggling in the UAE doing modest jobs. Many Indians saw luck coming their way through Big Ticket in recent years, but Saravanan Venkatachalam proves to be different from the lot.

Saravanan, an expatriate, won 25 million dirhams, or about Rs 62 crore, with his Big Ticket win. He was announced as the winner of the Big Ticket Grand Prize Series 280 a few months ago. Saravanan, a Chennai native and electrical engineer, has been living in Abu Dhabi for the past six years. Ticket number 463221 changed his life forever. Although he won the prize for a ticket which he had bought on his own, Saravanan has decided to share the prize money with his 25 friends.

A portion of the prize money has been earmarked for his child's education. He has also set aside some amount for future needs. Saravanan said that winning the Big Ticket was a proud moment, and the entire process was transparent. Saravanan said that he will continue to take the Big Ticket every month and will encourage others to participate.
