Plus One student found hanging in hostel room in Palakkad, family alleges ragging

PALAKKAD: A family has stepped forward with a complaint after a plus one student was found hanging in her school hostel room. The 16-year-old girl identified as Rudra, daughter of Rajesh of Ottapalam Varode Puthiya Kovilakam, studying in Vyasa Vidya Peethom in Kallekkad, was found hanging at 9 pm last night. Her father while talking to a media said that she was scared of seniors ragging. He filed a complaint with the chief minister demanding an investigation into his daughter's death.

Rudra was found hanging by other students while returning from the hostel mess after having dinner. The North police said the death of Rudra is a suicide. The body, which is kept in the district hospital, was shifted to Thrissur Medical College for postmortem. Meantime, the school authorities have denied the family's allegations of ragging.
