THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a tragic incident, a 70-year-old woman was thrown out of her house by her daughter. The incident happened at Edavilakam near Mangalapuram Thiruvananthapuram. The panchayat president, locals, and the police all arrived at the spot and asked her daughter Saja to allow her mother Salila to enter inside, but she refused.

The incident happened last night. Saja did not even allow her mother to take her clothes and medicines. Salila said that she often beats her. The locals said Saja threw her mother out of the house after her husband was taken into custody for assaulting her mother.

Locals say that Saja had been harassing her mother for the past few days. When the locals came to the house and asked her to let her mother in, Saja did not even open the gate. Later, the police and the panchayat member reached the spot after the locals informed them. After they arrived, Saja opened the gate of the house, but did not allow her mother to get inside.

Saja and her husband used to harass her mother to get her money. Salila clarified that she had been subjected to very cruel harassment by her children. Salila has been presently shifted to an old age home run by the panchayat.
