MUMBAI: More information emerged about the plane crash that killed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar. The aircraft was flown by VSR Aviation pilots Captain Sumit Kapoor and Captain Shambhavi Pathak. It is being reported now that the company had scheduled another pilot to fly the plane and Captain Sumit took over at the last minute.
His friends say that Sumit was assigned after the pilot who was supposed to fly the plane was late due to traffic jams in the city. Kapoor is a native of Delhi. He has 16,000 hours of flying experience. He had worked for companies like Sahara and Jet Airways. Kapoor's son and son-in-law are pilots. He returned from Hong Kong a few days ago.
The main pilot or first officer of the plane that carried Ajit Pawar was Captain Shambhavi. Shambhavi has 1500 hours of flying experience. A native of Delhi, Shambhavi is the daughter of an army officer. She completed her secondary education in 2018 from Air Force Bal Bharti School, Delhi. She then completed her commercial pilot and flight crew training at the New Zealand International Commercial Pilot Academy. She also holds a degree in Aeronautics, Aviation, and Aerospace Science and Technology from the University of Mumbai.
