
BENGALURU: A private training aircraft crashed in Vijayapura district of Karnataka, injuring the captain and a trainee pilot. The aircraft, owned by Redbird Aviation, reportedly crashed into a farm land after developing a technical fault. The incident took place in Mangaluru village under the Babaleshwar Police Station limits in Vijayapura.
According to initial reports, the aircraft was flying from Kalaburagi to Belagavi when it developed engine trouble. The plane lost control and went down sharply into agricultural land. On impact, it overturned and the front portion was completely damaged. The injured captain and trainee pilot were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. Reports say both of them suffered serious injuries.
As soon as the incident was reported, Babaleshwar police and locals rushed to the spot and began rescue operations. Officials said a detailed investigation is underway to find the exact cause of the crash. Videos of the crashed aircraft have already spread widely on social media. Officials said it was a major relief that the pilots were rescued quickly from the wreckage.
