20-year-old youth held for attempting to abuse Malayali actress in hotel

CHENNAI: Allegations have been levelled that there was an attempt to sexually abuse a Malayali actress at a hotel room in Chennai. A 20-year-old internship student tried to misbehave with a 26-year-old actress from Ernakulam. The incident happened at a hotel on Thomas Road in T Nagar, Chennai. The police have taken the youth identified as Syed Afridi of Nagapattinam into custody. He was a part-time employee of the hotel.

When the actress tried to order food, she found that the intercom in her room was not working. She then went to the reception and asked to get it repaired. Afridi then came to the room to repair it and when he was about to leave, he tried to hug her. The actress got scared and warned the youth, but when he tried to hug her again, she informed the police.

The Pondy Bazaar police reached the spot and took the youth into custody. He told police that he was innocent and had only repaired the phone and taken her order. The woman did not file a complaint against him. The police then released him after a warning.
