KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode Principal Sessions Court has granted bail to Shimjitha Musthafa, the accused in the suicide case of Deepak of Govindapuram. She accused him of harassing her while travelling on a bus. She was granted bail after being in jail for 21 days.

She was arrested after charged with abetment of suicide on the complaint of his family. His family had complained that Deepak committed suicide following the allegations levelled by Shimjitha along with the visuals on Instagram.

The prosecution had argued in the court that bail should not be granted until the forensic examination results of Shimjitha's laptop and phone come. However, the defense informed the court that she has been in jail for 21 days and need not be in remand until the forensic results come. Shimjitha approached the Kozhikode Principal Sessions Court after the Kunnamangalam Magistrate Court rejected her bail plea.

Deepak committed suicide after Shimjitha posted a visual on Instagram accusing him of sexually harassing her while travelling on a private bus from Payyannur. She later deleted the visuals following strong protests. The police had collected the CCTV footage of the private bus where the incident happened. The visuals of Deepak and Shimjita are not clear in this.
