THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Members of the Nithin Raj Action Council have alleged that the police are trying to derail the case related to the death of BDS student RL Nithin Raj of Anjarakandy Dental College by linking it to a loan app, instead of arresting those responsible.

They said incidents of caste discrimination against Dalit students by teachers are repeatedly being reported. They also alleged that several students are being forced to drop out of their studies due to the non-receipt of e-grants. In protest against such incidents, the action council formed by around 52 Dalit organisations has called for a Kerala hartal on April 28th, from 6 am to 6 pm.

Action Council Chairman K.K. Suresh, General Convener Sunny M. Kapikkad, K. Ambujakshan, Advocate P.A. Prasad, and P.M. Vinod took part in the press conference.
