
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began work at his new office, Seva Teerth, by signing several major public welfare decisions, including the PM Rahat scheme that ensures cashless treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh for accident victims. Reflecting the name “Seva Teerth” (place of service), the Prime Minister first approved key decisions focused on women, youth and vulnerable sections of society.
Along with Seva Teerth, a modern building symbolising India’s shift from its colonial past to a new era, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the new office complexes of the Finance and Defence Ministries, named Kartavya Bhavan 1 and 2.
After chairing his final Cabinet meeting at the old office in South Block on Raisina Hill, the Prime Minister formally moved to Seva Teerth, located a few metres away. He unveiled the name plaque at around 2 pm yesterday. Before starting work, he offered prayers at a Ganapathi idol inside the office and also released a Rs 100 commemorative coin. The formal inauguration ceremony of the buildings was held at 6 pm.
Key decisions on day one at Seva Teerth
1. The target of the Central Government’s flagship ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme has been revised to 6 crore beneficiaries by 2029. The earlier target was 3 crore by 2027.
2. The Agricultural Infrastructure Fund for farmers has been increased from Rs 1 lakh crore to Rs 2 lakh crore.
3. Approval was granted for ‘Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0’ with an allocation of Rs 10,000 crore to promote startups focused on innovation and technology development.

Kartavya Bhavan 1 and 2 will house the Ministries of Finance, Defence, Health and Family Welfare, Corporate Affairs, Education, Culture, Law and Justice, Information and Broadcasting, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilisers, and Tribal Affairs.
The buildings include public reception areas, renewable energy and water conservation systems built to four-star green building standards, and smart security infrastructure.
