KOLLAM: The bodies of two Plus One students’, who went missing after being swept away by the waves while bathing at Paravur beach in Kollam have been found. The bodies were found in a search conducted early Sunday morning. The dead have been identified as Bipin Raj (16) and Kannan Raj (16). Their bodies have been shifted to Paripally Medical College Hospital.

The accident occurred Saturday afternoon. A group of five friends had gone to the beach behind the Pozhikkara Devi Temple to bathe. Three of them entered the water. All three were swept away by the strong waves.

The fire brigade and police rescued Abu Tahir, a student who was with them. However, Bipin and Kannan could not be found. After a search was conducted late at night with the help of the Coast Guard, the bodies were found on the shore this morning.

Police said that the estuary behind the Pozhikkara Devi Temple is a very dangerous place and locals do not usually go into the water here. It is said that the three children were holding each other's hands. The rescuers were helped by the fact that Abu Tahir, who escaped, was stuck in the sand at the estuary. The bodies will be handed over to the relatives after the postmortem procedures are completed.
