THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair reiterated that the state government should oppose the entry of all women, regardless of age, in Sabarimala, in the Supreme Court. He also demanded that the state government and the devaswom board should change their previous stand of allowing women in Sabarimala. Sukumaran Nair told a media that the upcoming elections and politics are not being mixed up with this and that the NSS will stand firm in protecting its faith.
‘The state government has not given any assurance regarding the entry of women in Sabarimala, but it is expected that the old way in Sabarimala will continue. In the present situation, there is hope in the state government. The Supreme Court is expected to take a fair stand on the issue. In the present situation, the central government can also intervene, but it is not clear what their stand will be.
Progressive thinking is not about breaking faith. We had earlier requested the state government to dismiss the cases related to the Namajapa procession. Heard that at least a few people are being acquitted, said Sukumaran Nair.
