NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has granted anticipatory bail to former devaswom board secretary S Jayashree in the Sabarimala gold theft case. She has also been directed to appear before the investigating officers when required. Her plea was considered by a bench headed by Justice Dipankar Datta. When Supreme Court considered her plea earlier, her arrest was stayed. Her lawyer had pointed in the Supreme Court that Jayashree was entitled for bail. However, the state government had argued that she was not.

Jayashree filed a new affidavit in the Supreme Court against the allegations raised in the Sabarimala gold theft case. The affidavit mentioned that she had not given permission to take the Dwarapalaka idol sheets out of the sanctum sanctorum. She had clarified that permission was given to conduct the work in the presence and supervision of the Thiruvabharanam Commissioner.

Jayashree explained that she did not make any corrections in the minutes of the devaswom board and that only implemented the decisions taken by the board. She also stated in her affidavit that all steps were based on the decisions of the board. She has also added in her affidavit that she has never been to Sabarimala even once in her life.
