NEW DELHI: A recent report has claimed that the BJP, which has often taken a strong stance against beef consumption in India, received a whopping donation of Rs 30 crore from Allana Group, one of the largest exporters of beef in the country. As per the report published by Scroll.in, the party received a donation of Rs 30 crore through electoral bonds in 2024–25. The report states that the BJP started receiving donations from the company led by Irfan Allana after India's beef export crossed $4 billion in 2025. It also stated that the Allana Group had made political contributions to the BJP even before Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister.

In 2019, the Income Tax Department had conducted raids at more than 100 locations linked to the Allana Group. By April, officials found that the company had evaded taxes worth nearly Rs 2000 crore. The company started buying electoral bonds after this, the report said.

That year, the company bought electoral bonds worth Rs 7 crore. It donated Rs 5 crore to the Shiv Sena and Rs 2 crore to the BJP. It must be noted that Shiv Sena and the BJP controlled both the municipal and state administrations in Mumbai and Maharashtra during that time. The company had also donated Rs 2 crore during 2013-14 and Rs 50 lakh the following year. In 2023-24, Rs 2 crore was donated to the BJP through Frigerio Conserva Allana Private Limited, another firm of the Allana Group.

The donation in 2024-25 increased to Rs 30 crore. The company donated the money through its four firms- Allanasons Private Limited, Frigerio Conserva Allana Private Limited, Frigorifico Allana Private Limited and Indagro Foods Private Limited.

India is the world's third-largest exporter of beef. Although exports had earlier declined following China’s intervention to crack down on illegal meat trade, the sector rebounded after Indian companies found new markets. Increased demand from countries such as Egypt and Malaysia contributed to a renewed export boom, which, according to the report, coincided with rising revenues for the Allana Group.
