KOCHI: The state government has filed an appeal in the High Court challenging the trial court's verdict acquitting Dileep and other accused in the actress attack case. The government's main argument is that the trial court rejected the crucial digital evidence presented by the prosecution on frivolous grounds.

The court did not seriously consider the information regarding the footage revealed by director Balachandra Kumar and the evidence obtained from Dileep's brother Anoop's phone. The prosecution argues that it is not legally permissible to dismiss serious evidence citing technical and trivial reasons.

The government is demanding that the accused, including Pulsar Suni, be given the maximum punishment and that the acquittal of the other accused be quashed. The government is moving forward with these appeal proceedings by accepting the recommendation of the DGP and the Special Prosecutor. The prosecution is preparing for a strong legal battle against the trial court verdict.
