WASHINGTON: The United States has confirmed that its soldiers were killed in retaliatory attacks by Iran. The US Department of Defence officially said that American troops were killed in a missile and drone strike carried out by Iran. Five others were seriously injured. This is the first time the US has admitted that soldiers have been killed since the start of its military operations against Iran.

Meanwhile, the United States Central Command rejected Iran’s claim that the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was attacked. The US said Iranian missiles did not even reach the vicinity of the ship and that it remains completely safe. However, Iran has claimed that it launched four ballistic missiles at the American warship. Tehran also warned that land and sea would become a “graveyard” for terrorists. Iran further claimed that it carried out an attack using four ballistic missiles and 12 drones on a US military base in the Abdullah Mubarak area of Kuwait.

In a post on X, US Central Command said that at the beginning of “Operation Fury” against Iran, American forces struck an Iranian Jamaran-class corvette. According to the statement, the vessel is currently sinking off the coast of Chabahar in the Gulf of Oman. The command also called on Iranian forces to lay down their weapons and surrender.
